Ask questions on relationships, mental health, parenting, career help, fitness plans, and more. • Anonymous profiles so you can do YOU Connect with people about any topic, join interactive community groups or threads, and chat with other redditors, all anonymously. Voting and Karma: Instead of likes and hearts, Reddit’s social network runs on upvotes or downvotes. Voting on posts and comments increase or decrease the creator’s karma, and helps popular and relevant posts rise to the top, while filtering out low-quality or irrelevant posts. While karma doesn't directly impact your ability to use Reddit, more karma can increase posts’ visibility and help you get noticed. Some communities require karma to post or comment, which helps prevent spam or low-quality content. i’m literally that one dog with the butterfly on his nose
Fartingallthewaytomycasket on 2023-08-18
deleting this app was the first step in my journey on self improvement i realize i only have this app for my own urges and i’m so disgusted in myself and have gained a new consciousness with more clarity and i realized that the things i used to use this app for were disgusting to say the least and im happy to delete it because i can actually feel myself improving and becoming happier with the less screen time i use on this app or maybe screen time in general causes me to be unhappy with myself i see these girls who look so much prettier than me and it just makes me self reflect on how my life would be so much different if i was born attractive would i never have downloaded this incel filled app? would i never have even had the same phone i type this review on? would i even be the same person i am today? the way you are perceived and treated leaves such an affect on who you are as a person which also reminds me of the true primitive state our minds are still in we can use these mindblowingly intelligent technologies and become more and more technologically advanced but our brains will always be the same we can’t change our instinct for social interaction and our need for it please delete this app or just close it and go outside and feel the true beauty we are blessed with instead of seeking more and more online be grateful for the beauty we are given in nature take a hike instead of masturbating and see how much better you feel afterwards you will feel much more accomplished afterwards
Mediocre App
adkayaker on 2023-08-18
Later edit: okay so I came back to add an extra specific that annoyed me enough to add to my review in the hope that you’ll see this. It just took me like 7 tries to upvote a comment, instead of upvoting I was apparently clicking slightly off and collapsing the thread. Can you make the voting arrow clickable space a little bigger? Coming to the Reddit app after having been a user for years but using third party apps. The native app I don’t think could ever be as good as some of the third party apps out there but I didn’t imagine it would be this bad. Nothing is intuitive at all about it. I struggle to find the right option for everything, commenting, voting, etc. that’s also ignoring the huge lack of functionality I’m losing coming from other apps. Reddit also made the decision to bury r/all at the bottom of communities so it’s now extra difficult to browse like I normally do. I was trying to give the app the benefit of the doubt after switching but it’s worse than I imagined it being.
Annoying
cursual on 2023-08-18
This app is so much more frustrating to scroll through compared to the third party apps they killed. The most irritating part is the constant spamming of random subreddits you're not subscribed to. Many times it's subreddits I visited once while googling an answer to something. However most of the time it's posts completely unrelated to your feed and random "related" subs that also have nothing to do with the sub they're apparently related to. Also recently getting spammed with "popular" posts on my home page that I have zero interest in whatsoever. The only reason I have this app is because Reddit is basically forcing you to use it now if you want to even look at the site on mobile; it's literally unusable on a regular browser.
Honest reviews missing.
Solarguyvt on 2023-08-18
Somehow the honest reviews of this app are missing so people have started posting 4 and five star reviews about how garbage this app is. The developer took away third party apps that allowed moderators to use streamlined way of moderating subs. Now it’s flooded with bots posting child pornography, which the ceo loves he was the head mod of a sub dedicated to soft core child pornography before he was forced to shut it down. The site only works because of user content and moderation. If you report to the actual company they will ban your account because “there was no violation and you’re abusing the report feature” when you report someone saying they are going to rape a fourteen year old.
Garbage
[EDIT TO ADD] on 2023-08-18
Freezes on posts daily and has to be closed and the format makes finding a post that needed 2k bananas to scroll and find It will also randomly reset to the top of the page. It’s almost like le redditards bought an app and said “let’s make this as annoying as possible to use” When the ipo happens i will do something that I have never ever done before: hope that a stock gets shorted until it’s pink I’ve been active daily since 2014 and the joy that was present as recent as 2019 no longer exists Reddit was amazing until they obtained investors; now it is just another capitalism casket
Just not good.
Shope1990 on 2023-08-18
Switching between subreddits is very clunky, but the biggest issue is that recent updates have killed “read/unread posts”. Meaning that any time you close and open the app again, posts you’ve previously seen restore to “unread” status. It’s infuriating when trying to scroll and not click posts you’ve seen already. This is in my opinion one of the most important features for any Reddit client, so to kill off 3rd party apps that did this well while the official app has issues with it every other update is just ridiculous. Get it together! Missing Apollo every day!
Reddit eliminated competing apps and ruined their browser experience to make $ off you
Feneon on 2023-08-18
Reddit has intentionally made it impossible for 3rd party apps to continue operating, and completely ruined the experience of browsing their website through a mobile browser, with pop ups that cover part of the page and can’t be removed, telling you that the app experience is better. Well no kidding it’s better, Reddit! You intentionally ruined every other way to experience your site but the official app. Forget it, I’d rather be done with the site entirely, since you’ve ensured that content will always be from the bottom-of-the-barrel. Way to go, idiots.
The Lincoln lawyer
arport on 2023-08-18
This is the best lawyer show ever. The main character (Mickey) is a lawyer you can love for his kindness, morality, intelligence and handsomeness. His faint Spanish accent gives his role additional depth. The plot twists are ingenious and just keep on coming throughout each episode. The second season finale was ingenious. I can usually guess the ending (much to my husband’s annoyance) but this one was a total surprise. Kudos to the brilliant writers and please continue this series FOREVER. Videos never load no matter the connection.
Gnarlax on 2023-08-18
Data, wifi, hotspot, it doesn't matter. The video player on the app is terrible and has no business not working. It just refuses to load. But if I take the link and play it through a browser with the same exact connection and everything the video plays instantly. Yes my phone is updated no I don't have bad internet and no my phone isn't 10 years old. Terrible, atrocious, negligent quality assurance going on at reddit who wants to go public with this corner cutting app. Insane that in 2023 we still cant get video players right.
Bad Algorithms
MrAwes0me on 2023-08-18
The Reddit app is absolutely terrible. There is no way to enjoy your time on Reddit through the app. You will be constantly barraged by the same content. All. Day. Long. If you look at something once, it will be pushed at you every time you open the app until you either submit to the algorithm and subscribe/like/follow or actively hide it. Inflammatory content is also obviously favored by the algorithms. I don’t even care to write a more thoughtful RIP Apollo
