I love this app i think it’s adorable and sweet co-parenting is fun… when the other person is taking care of the pet.. personally my friend isn’t every time i ask “hey can you feed the pet?” they just say “oh yeah i think it died” which is annoying but can’t really do anything, but! onto the thing i was talking about. So one thing that would be nicer to have is more interaction with your pet, you get to feed it, bathe it, give it something to drink, but we can’t play with it which considering these are pets and pets like to play it would be nice to be able to play with the pet. Another thing that would be fun for interaction wise would be putting your pet to bed, like before you go to bed you can put your pet to bed considering the fact that before most people go to bed they usually scroll through the internet so it would be easy to put your pet to bed because the person would pick up there phone for example and see “please put me to bed” so they would put they’re pet to bed and then scroll on the internet, now the big flaw with this is what if you go to bed but then your pet asks to go to bed? you don’t take care of your pet and maybe you want to take care of your pet, i’ve come up with 2 solutions. Solution 1 your pet could ask “what time do you usually go to bed?” so then it can ask to go to bed before you go to bed. Solution 2 after a certain period of time it goes to bed after maybe 1 hour so then it doesn't miss out on sleep. These are all just personal thoughts that if we’re to be added would need more people thinking the same thing.
First things first, if you’re simply looking for cutesy widgets, this is probably a great app for you.
But, if you’re someone who fell into the TikTok marketing of their Widget Pet, then your experience will be dissatisfactory.
Before I get into the negative, I will say, I love my widget pet, the cute dialogue and existing mechanics are fine. The co-parenting feature is the best part.
On the other hand, though, everything is paywalled. Everything. And not fairly, might I add. A singular piece of in-game food is essentially $1.00. There is nothing special about feeding your pet, except that it keeps them from starving. So, spending roughly $3.00 a day on a virtual pet with very little dialogue and few game mechanics is a bit… Weird. The ai chat feature with your pet is paywalled and also glitchy.
There is no feature to pet your widget pet, or play with it. In-game dialogue is sparse to nonexistent. Your pet has only negative in-game reactions, like being dirty or sad. No positive.
To improve widgetable, repairing at least a few of those things would be of utmost importance, and likely to bring in more paying customers by furthering their connection to their virtual pet.
To market this entire app on its widget pet feature, only for it to be incomplete, leads to disappointment. I would love to see this improve, because widgetable has the potential to be a really, really great app that I would consider paying a pretty penny for.
I recently got this app a few weeks ago after my friend wanted to co-parent one of her pets with me. I thought it was interesting, especially the co-parent feature where the pet travels from phone to phone each day. However, even though the animals are cute, the plants are adorable, and the widget options are nice, I find that it can be especially hard to maintain your pets and plants without premium. As a person who likes things free, I’m not particularly fond of this fact. So I propose a work around: add a currency to the app. You developers can make it so that by taking care of your pet, your pet not only gains EXP but you also get a certain amount of currency. Then, in the shop, you can use that currency to purchase items you need. The ad feature can still be a thing; the currency feature will just make it easier for free users to obtain items.
But aside from premium being overly necessary, I don’t have much of an issue with the app. Even if my suggestion doesn’t get implemented, I don’t see myself uninstalling Widgetable anytime soon.
So this app is great, and I have no regrets downloading it but one. There are SO many in app purchases. For an example, the pet feature, where you raise and grow a pet (with someone if you want) is kinda ridiculous when you try to feed it. The pets only eat like 3 types of food (the fish, shrimp, and lobster) and when you try to give them something else they will deny it but the storage for that item still goes down. So when you run out of the food they want, you either HAVE to watch an add (or multiple), or HAVE to let them starve. Another example is the mood bubble feature. It’s great, but you only have about 5 emotions to choose from. (happy, sad, angry, tired, and calm) and you can only put 10 bottles of emotions into the bubble. And if you want another emotion, it ALSO costs REAL money. I get this is how they make their money, but cmon, do you really need THAT many in app purchases?
Widgettable is a fun app where you can take care of pets, an digital garden and create wallpapers and make widgets and do many more. However, I don’t recommend this for kids and here’s why… You need to be a pro to do widgetable without the ads, and ALL the good features are for pro. That’s how it is with ALL free to download apps. But the advertisements can be very inappropriate just like games with kissing and sexual activities, all dirty stuff can pop up. Don’t forget the ads can be also scary, like a Momo advertisement and all that crap. Pro is really expensive, and there’s really nothing more to it aside of a pet taking care of game. I suggest the only way people should use this is to take care of gardens because gardens mature and then you don’t have to do any tasks for it = no ads and none of the things that’s makes this game bad.
I wanted to leave a 5 star review for this app. My daughter and I love the co-parenting feature. We text each other throughout the day to make sure Ducky has been taken care of… it’s fun. Reminds me of Tamagotchis I played with as a child. I have not paid for the add free version it’s easy enough to wait 30 seconds and get the item for free. Tonight she had an add pop up featuring Forbidden Desire. Eventually there was a warning and the couple doing the dirty was blurred out after some time. My daughter is 12 but I never thought an add like this would populate during this game. I’m asking the creators of this game to consider their audience. We were trying to feed Ducky tonight… not have a sex talk.
Just saying you guys shouldn’t put so many ads for the food. When it lets us by food it shouldn’t make us watch a 30 second to an 1 minute ad and if we get 3 after we got 3 pieces of food it shouldn’t put a timer bc then we don’t know what the pet wants and we might not have enough for that specific food item. You guys should really update it to where we can buy multiple food without a timer or multiple ads just for 1 food item. Even for the other things to like the soap and bathroom stuff to,Same thing, bc some people might want to stock up on food or anything else so we don’t have to keep buying over and over again . Thank you, I hope this helps and you guys make changes .
I’ve only had this app for 2 days but I’ve enjoyed it a lot! I had a friend ask me to download it so we could do interactive widgets, I was worried it wouldn’t work between different phones but it does!!! The drawing and notes ones are our favorites. The ads tend to be a bit annoying but they definitely don’t over-do it. A lot of the things that are stuck behind paywalls I was uninterested in in the first place, so I don’t have any complaints there. I don’t really care about the pet things so the constant notifications about that kinda bother me but other than that this app is pretty solid for what it is. The sharing widgets option is honestly just too good.
This app has a cute concepts in terms of the widgets, wallpapers, etc. My main recommendations are coming from the pet aspect though…it should be more interactive! There should be more things that can be done with the pet like mini games where you can win stuff for the pet (food, soap, etc), also making the games playable between the two people who are co-parenting. There should also be more co-parents if possible. It could also be more interactive in the manner that you could drag items to the pet in order to complete the action. Almost like the game “Pou”. Just more cute little details that would make it more fun!
I thought the idea and concept of the game was very cute and fun. Upon downloading, I noticed it was quite confusing to move around the app and find things. Then when taking care of the pet, the few items that could be replenished for free took either 24hrs or more to use. I understand the need to profit, but the fact that I had to watch either an ad or three every time I had to take care of my pet it just got so tedious and boring super quickly. I wanted to love this app but just couldn’t justify the fact I had to watch a boring 30+ second ad multiple times. Waste of time.
