Something I noticed after deleting DMs is that older DMs appear. (Semi-related: deleting messages from DMs bumps that DM to the top while deleting messages in groups does not, just FYI) Why did these older DMs not show up in the first place?
I saw in the update that we can delete messages now, so I re-downloaded the app. And added a star. This is a bandaid solution that doesn’t solve the main issue of GroupMe: most group owners abandon or get locked out of their account, so we get stuck in a multitude of dead groups with no ability to end them. Since we can delete ALL our messages now, members of groups should be able to end ALL our groups. Or at least inactive and abandoned groups. Better yet, GroupMe should implement Reddit and Facebook features where if a group owner has no activity in a time period, open the group for anyone to be the group owner OR automatically end them. I’d also like to be able to delete all my messages and likes in groups I was removed from, so if we could at least access an archive of when we were in those groups to delete our messages and such or automatically delete our messages and such upon removal.
Constantly Crashing

I have to use this app for work, and at first it had no big issues. But as time has gone on it crashes about 90% of the time I open it, and then when it does open and I try to share messages or pictures in the work chat if it, doesn't crash there, it doesn't send the message. It will occasionally show the message was sent and I'll close the app thinking it went through, only for me to check a few hours later and see that it failed to send the message (after showing it had). I have to uninstall the app then reinstall it every couple of days, it will work for about a day and a half then start crashing and failing to send messages all over again. Very disappointing, inconvenient, and frustrating. If any businesses or groups are looking for a way to communicate with all employees, I strongly suggest you go elsewhere.
Good, but always glitchy

I’ve been using this app for 6 or 7 years now. Mainly started because we could never share videos and pics with groups that had iPhones and androids. Then I started using it because you can’t have more than 10 people on a group text so this was a way to stay connected to my much larger family without having to post on social media. I’ve loved it for that purpose.
Fast forward and now every time I go in it it takes forever to load, sometimes it crashes before I get to see anything and definitely it’s hit or miss when trying to post something. It’s not like I have a super old phone either. I have an iPhone 13 Pro and completely updated. Sometimes this slowness and crashing effects me, sometimes it effects others in my groups. I just wish it was smoother all around.

Here are all the problems I have had with this Train wreck of an app: 1: Created a separate group chat that i did not want nor was inform of that is the bane of my existence and the cause of all my troubles 2: the phone number the group chat was operating on started to be the number that i got texts on from a very important family member so i never saw the text some of witch contained important information 3: When i went to trouble shoot the issue ie; the phone number thing and the second group chat, I found NOTHING to help and no way to contact other workers All in all if you want a group chat that will actually work use the default chats on your phone or get another app
TLDR: If YOU want your group chats to be destroyed FOREVER dolnlwed this WONDERFUL 😒😐 app

Just a bad experience

I work for a company that utilizes GroupMe for important messages. While all 156 other employees can post, I, for some reason, cannot. I get this message stating “this message failed sending.” Well, at least I didn’t fail grammar school. I get this message despite having done all the basic troubleshooting: turning off my device, connecting to a different internet source, uninstalling the software, using a different device. Nothing works, leaving me equating GroupMe with unending frustration.
Note: if my boss somehow shadow banned me from posting and GroupMe corporate sends me an email stating that, I will remove this review haha you never know.
For now, I hate GroupMe.
SO GLITCHY

I have to use this app daily in my work place for work. Half of the time I can’t get it to open without freezing and I can’t send photos without the whole app freezing and just for the message to fail. And when I try to delete the failed message it doesn’t work. The freezing episodes have are now causing my entire phone to freeze. I make sure all my other apps are closed, I check my connection, I also update the app anytime a new version comes out. I have even deleted it and re-downloaded it. I have ample storage on my phone. I don’t think it’s an issue on my end. It is very frustrating. Please look into why this app is so glitchy and try to fix
Terrible only works with full WiFi

We use this for large group text for our work team. We need the ability to send photos to a central chat. This group me is glitchy takes for ever to send anything freezes constantly and often you have to close out of the app and re-open it in order for new messages to appear. The staff that is office located have a better experience most likely because there have access to Wi-Fi at all times. Those of us on the field all strongly dislike this app and almost always super frustrated with its function. Look elsewhere if you need consistent reliable communication with your team even while on cellular data. I’d give it zero starts if I could.
Close but not quite

Great to message. The calendar function needs to be fixed. There is no way to subscribe to the full calendar. You can add an event one at a time to your personal calendar (time consuming) but you can’t add the entire calendar with one step. The WORST part is that every single time someone marks their attendance for an event it shows up in the feed. It fills the feed with tons of junk messages letting you know who is attending what event. No way to silence them. It’s ridiculous. Makes it impossible to track the actual messages that need to be seen.
DM Search and Declutter

The fact I can’t search through my group chat of almost 200 people by name so I can DM a single person blows my mind. How difficult is it to add a search function? The list is already there. Just tap tap search. Would save me from pulling my hair. And why can’t I just delete DM conversations and group chats??!! Why? Just add those two things and I will honestly be happy as a clam. I am forced to use this app everyday with almost 6 group chats and various DMs for work. Please please please work with me.
